Elisha began a trading post in Shapleigh in 1823 and continued in that business for many years.
Elisha was a representative to the Maine General Assembly in 1830-31, 1835, and 1837.
Elisha was a member of the Maine Senate in 1841 and 1842. He was county commissioner for York County, Maine in 1853.
